Woodside Summer Classic Day 2

Today is the Woodside Summer Classic Week 1 day 2!!

I woke up at 7:00 A.M. and left for the show at 8:00, got there before 9:00. I found my trainer within the first five minutes of being at the show.

I went to go check my ring to see when my flat was going, knowing these things are always delayed. I had 1 hour until my flat class, so I went to get a (DECAF) coffee!!! Then it was time to get on.

My first flat was vary good EXCEPT I broke to the trot once- I think I would have won it if I had not let that happen. 😭

Then it was my second flat. Getting my canter departure is really hard sometimes, which is the thing that screwed me up! And then I think about it too much. Let’s just say the second flat was not good. 😌

Now it’s time for my over fences classes- all 4 of them in a row this morning!

Cleo was a little bit fresh today so it was hard to get gentle control of her around the ring. It’s equation day, so there are rollbacks and tighter turns. But she would start going super speedy at times, and then I would have way too much hand on her, so I’d be pulling on her face but not enough leg, so then she’d slow down and break, and then ugh!!! That was the story of the first two over fences classes.

The last two were better, and the very last one I actually earned 2nd place! And I scored Reserve Champion, too!

I think today was 100% a learning experience and I still think I did pretty well.

Here is a video of the day. Enjoy 😉
